First Stop: The Natural History Museum (Matevž)
Our first destination takes us into the depths of discovery at the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. Its unique architecture awakens a sense of belonging to the British culture. As we step through the doors, we’re immediately greeted by the towering skeleton of a blue whale suspended in mid-air. From ancient fossils to dazzling gemstones, every exhibit feels like a journey through time. In my opinion, the dinosaur gallery, complete with its realistic animatronic T-Rex, is the most entertaining part of the museum. I’m amazed by the astonishing collection it houses. It’s hard to believe just how much history and knowledge is gathered under one roof.
Second Stop: St. Paul’s Cathedral (Miha)
Next, we make our way to St. Paul’s Cathedral. In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever seen. Standing here, it’s impossible not to feel the weight of its importance. The cathedral stands as a beacon of hope throughout the centuries, and its iconic dome continues to define London’s skyline.
Third Stop: Buckingham Palace (Miha)
Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British monarch, is our next stop. A crowd gathers as we arrive, all waiting eagerly for the Changing of the Guard ceremony. The red-coated guards, move in perfect synchronization to the sounds of a military band. In the centre of the square lies a mighty memorial. Furthermore, the palace includes an appealing garden in which we can interact with squirrels and geese.
Final Stop: Trafalgar Square (Miha)
We end our day at Trafalgar Square, a public space that serves as a cultural crossroad in the heart of London. At its centre, Nelson’s Column rises greatly, surrounded by four fierce bronze lions. Locals and tourists gather by the fountains, enjoying the lively atmosphere of this iconic landmark. Meanwhile, our classmates are climbing onto the base of the column to get a better view of the vast square.
